The house was built in 1977. I noticed at least two of the pictured objects secured to the attic ceiling. I don't know what they are and that leaves me frustrated. What are these wired items attached to the ceiling of the attic?

Looks like a push button switch or a bell push button.
 
Is that the wires I can see? 2 core twisted? Like old table lamp flex?

Possible a push button, as suggested.
Or a pull cord switch without the cord?

Can you see where the wires go in the attic?
 
The OP is in Wisconsin, America, so 4:48am here is 10:48 pm the night before

And only 6:40am at the time of writing this…. So may not be up yet.
