Hi - working in a house with an original 60s installation and found this little bit of copper wire used as a fuse. It was in place of 30A fuse wire, I think. I've put a bit of 1mm2 for reference in the pic.

Any thoughts on what it is? And what would be its rating as a fuse ? :)

Does this handy guide help at all? :)

Thanks all for your replies !
No 1/.044 is the conductor diameter not the csa which is around 0.0015 which is around 1.0mm csa.
Handling it, I'd say it's less than 1mm2. So maybe it's one strand of some 3x0.029" ? Just off the try to work out what that is in EUville :)
