Discuss Whats needed to just replace sockets? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Ideally you need to have kids.
Then you can use the excuse that you're moving into electrical work to better yourself for the sake of the kids.
If anything goes wrong they would be less likely to send you to jail in case it breaches your human right to a family life.

Hi there,

I'm looking into setting up a business which will be working in peoples properties. Part of the work that i will need to undertake is the removal of wall sockets and replacement on new ones and maybe the same with light switches. What qualifcations / certificates will i need to undertake the work legally?

Thanks

Craig

I would suggest you have electrical knowledge and insurances primarily. as mentioned in a previous post you will find the work will progress from changing sockets to installing them, then the slippery road will begin and the bodging start, then certification and testing with instruments will be a requirement and thats why my answer to the question what qualifications are required is "electrical installation ability and a knowledge of carrying out work safely to BS7671).

A good knowledge of safe isolation practices as well as, previously mentioned screwdriver and new accessories (can't remember the question now) ..............Oh yeah and get a spark that'll keep the insurance company satisfied.
