look....i`ll be straight on this...i`v been carryin out a few EICRs on some 1 bed flats....been chargin £80 a time.....landlords just wont pay any more....but you can get one of those done in about 3-4 hours...so if i do 2 a day....
any remedials are of course on top....the landlords understand that and are happy to go with it so...
theres continuity of work as well....

Could have got undercut by someone just starting up on their own, ive been going in cheap the last couple of months to get the ball rolling and get my name around

but know the limit...
i had landlords givin it `oh, well this guy will do a full EICR in a 2 bed for 50 quid`....yeah rite.....except it won`t be done rite...
they must think i fell out of a bleedin tree...

The prices ive been quoting have been cheap but only cheap enough the i will beat other quotes by 15% or so, enough to mean i get the job, but not so much that i have to cut corners to make money

but where does it stop.....if someone`s gonna be happy with enough money in arse pocket for a crate and some green....loll

Theres being competitive, and there's being a busy fool you could end up the latter with your thinking

A mechanic the other day asked me if I knew anyone who would do him a safety cert for his garage as the guy who did the leccy has not come back to give him a cert, said he was quoted £200 for the entire garage 29 single phase circuits four 3 phase circuits, he was moaning saying it was too much!!! yet he charged me £160 to change that calipers on the back of my mrs car because he had a ball ache with it and he had to spend an hour on it the following day so he charged us for the second day. Lol

yeah very true sedgy, and the even worse thing about it is the busy fool will get so busy due to silly rates he will have to either let customers down or take someone on to help him, thats how folk go bust, the odd job if you have no work at all is forgiveable but long term a decent rate is something that has to be sorted out and stuck to, FWIW now I think your cost of 1300-1700 sounded about right, let the prats carry on.

Priced an extension 10 spots with led lamps
About 12 sockets, cooker, utility and wc spotlights and fan/isolator all new circuits what you would expect, new fuseboard new heating supply.
Didn't get the job someone else priced £600 labour £800 materials.
I said to the guy when they draw the £600 and still haven't finished give me a ring lol

Floors up? ceiling down? Chasing? More info needed please to make a better evaluation.

There's a company near me who have employed a tactic that's keeping them cheap and making a profits

I've only lived in Bristol since feb and worked on 2 sites yet I've met about 15-20 people who have worked for this company and all had the same experience.

They're doing council house rewires, real rubbish work, surface mounted trunking etc, but the kitchens are being ripped out at the same time all occupied.

the particular one I was on the people living their wouldn't allow any floor boards in the rooms to be lifted only in the hall. I was off site for maybe a total of a day and a half doing courses for them, and the other guy who was on the books spent 2 days with his assessor.
Mae were given 26 hours to do the entire rewire, obviously it took longer, get to the end of the next week and see I've only been paid for 26 hours, they turn around and said, yeah we gave you that long to do the job that's what you get paid regardless, lol non of which was discussed beforehand lol.

They've not paid so many people and have a bad rep, I'm surprised the guy who runs it is still walking the amount of guys I've me that he owes money to.

last kitchen I did had 16 downlights and approx the same as sedgy mentioned including a db and it worked out at £2,200 plus vat and I didn't make much, a lot of farting about with new modern kitchen re-fits IMO.

my price was £1300 and for a new db additional £400
