Discuss Working on 11kv overhead line in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Don’t know, but you could start by turning it off and grounding it.

is There not a company that specialises in that sort of work locally?
I would not think of it as a do it yourself sort of job.

Wanted to hear from qualified linesman the requirements in terms of permits before undertaking work on a private overhead line

I believe there are procudures to be followed before you do any work close to a HT overhead line.Something to do with the Exclusion zones. So that is what I am asking from those with the experience to assist me with their knowledge. This is a private line not a national supply authority line.
