230v 3 pin commando polarity tester

Is there a 230v 3 pin commando polarity tester that is a reasonable price? I have seen the Martindale one at £45.00 Ideally i would like one about £15.00 /£ 20.00. I am just fixing a socket outside for my camper van to keep the topped up in the winter. The solar panels are ok for the summer. I...

I want to put a hookup outside my house for my camper van. I will be using a commando socket (at least that what we called them when i was at work) If you view the socket as mounted on the wall, the socket itself is facing down obviously. All i can see are top entry for the supply i am looking...

Electric motor problems on dust extract

Well I had the motor tested and its all OK, pulls 7amp when running. The weight take the start capacitor out when at full speed. I was also told that the motor should be wired into my shed circuit and not run through a plug. I am now making the alterations to do this.

Electric motor problems on dust extract

I made a major faux pas in stating my motor did not have a capacitor, it hidden from plain site, apologies. Having said that i now think that the capacitor is a run capacitor as the motor starts then blows the fuse. I have checked the capacitor and the wires run into the motor body. I will take...

We had a switch years ago and we all left the light on at one time or another, going back to a wall switch will be a step back in time.

    hi/low beam led indicater issue

First off what is your bike. I cant think of a bike that switches from dip to main going left or right. In doing so crossing the surly you would lose all lights for a split second. Most bikes you switch the lights on then there is a seperate switch for main/dip. I have just rewired my Trike...

My first post and it's about LED lighting

Thanks for the quick replies, I liked the idea of the resistors but it would not work within box as it is a live in live out type, no neutral. I pit for LED's seems best all round.

I have a small utility room at the end of my garage, it have a fluorescent fitting for lighting controlled by an infra-red sensor. I decided to change it because the tubes and/or starters fall over at the most inconvenient namely winter time when it is dark. I have changed the fitting to a...
