    Feeling sorry for the customer....

Sounds like Nana from the Catherine Tate show ~ king liberty!:D Some of the older generation are very proud and don't want to be a burden upon anyone. Just think of freebies as good Karma (what goes around, comes around)

    Golf Clubs For SALE

Pretty good handicap that; I play off 28 (the max allowable) but it should be about 98 the useless way I play (why go in a straight line down the fairway when there are woods and undergrowth to explore!:o:eek:;))

    spur off a cooker circuit

Installation method for the whole run, thermal effects of insulation around the cable, wear and tear during and subsequently to installation of the cable (insulation degradation), vermin attack, connection of a spur somewhere within the run by a DIYer etc ~ if the cable is then taken up a notch...

    spur off a cooker circuit

Titch mentions that he is considering using one Paul, but I wouldn't do it myself The first thing a sparky should do is to test the circuit you are working on to check it isn't live, but it is a valid point.

Energy prices set to rise 25%

This is after-all said and done Rip-off-Britain so it does not suprise me at all. What's next; charging experienced fully qualified electricians a fee just so they can do their job? Oh hang on a minute!

    spur off a cooker circuit

Don't do it Titch, its bad practice at best. Not ideal but any sockets on the other side of the wall? Best way is to lift the floorboard above and extend the ring from the other sockets within the kitchen.

    Old Wylex HB Range MCB

Hi Good people, I need an alternative make/type of mcb to fit into an old 3 phase Wylex HB type board. Similar to the image below I hear tell that the old MEMshield fit onto the busbars but they seem just as elusive (again probably because of the unshielded bus screws) and I believe...

    supplys

Put in a landlords supply I.e distribution board for flat supply and hall and stair lighting and limit the load to the flats. He can always ask the DNO to upgrade his supply (I doubt he will)

    Automatic wire strippers

Cant stand them myself, in the controls game we tend to use these type of automatic strippers; Pheonix contact manufacture them (other manufacturers available) at about £52.00, however the pair I own have lasted me 15 years (at least) and strip 0.25mm to 6mm tri-rated without trying to align...

    commando to 13amp extension.

Buy commando sockets with in built RCBO protection (quite expensive though)

    Induction hob mixed opinion.

IMHO always good practice to install a new circuit to separate the oven from the hob, this was proven after being called out to a new kitchen installation which kept tripping the (single) breaker when three of the four rings and the oven were being used at the same time. So requiring a new...

Metallic Sheath on SWA cable should be earthed or not?

Hi Goody Armoured cable should be terminated using the correct method and glands especially If you are going to present it as part of your assessment. Do not under any circumstances use an earth clamp around the armouring ~ a seriously bad practice that is likely to get a fail on your...
