Tony, nothing underhand here at all! Yes my first post was a request for any info on what the assessors were majoring on in the half day visit (Passed by the way) and was a QS for a large company for 11 years but hadn't done this for 5 years so was a little cautious! Regarding the DNO...
Isn't it just!!!! But I'll bet if it was gonna get them a big contract they'd cobble together a data sheet!!! Surely if they have to comply to BS8567 they would instantly have any IP rating to hand!?!?!?
Rob2, the equipment would be better rated than the door arrangement and definitely better than the service head. However cost is an issue but at least I have a bit of a reply from one manufacturer now... we haven't IP tested our cabinets but they would be approximately IP44! Gotta love em!!!!
Tony, thanks for the reply. The project.... is for the DNO as it is some new kit they are considering and have asked the question. I know there are always tons of doors hanging off but have asked a few companies like Ritherdon who make a replacement new door and frame to replace broken ones what...
I've been asked to look into this for a project where the client is specifying an IP rating for equipment within the meter box. I know that there have been numerous discussions on siting additional equipment within the meter box other than the service cut out and the meter and possibly an...
Not really an answer, but the HSE were at the NIC tech talks in York and he did comment on pulling main fuses to 'work safely'. He did say that the HSE would not prosecute as it clearly states in the EAWR that all precautions must be taken to ensure safe isolation and working practices.... well...
H & S Gone MAD! We wouldn't be able to touch any of the 3036 boards if we believed everything we heard!!!.... Common sense should always prevail... if there's any left around! Worked on these boards for years... and how many more of them are still out there as potential dangers?!?!?!?! Quite...
One of my questions tomorrow! Having been a national QS for 11 years a little while ago we had approved contractor full scope status.... watch this space I suppose!?
Did check this out and asked the question and had email confirmation we can apply for full approval on Domestic Installer assessment and not just defined approval for Electrical Trainee kitchen works! But I suppose they will try and get another assessment fee to upgrade us to defined scope approved contractor...
Don't worry.... in our profession we are all used to banter! Definitely got the right insurance... I can test... but the two jobs offered are a right pigs ear! So going to be interesting on the regs and the condition reports! (First two I've done.... was a PIR last time I did one!!!) But got...
I have read lots of errrr shall we say funny comments regarding the Part P scheme..... Quite funny!!! The company I'm setting the team up for are only looking at domestic work hence the application. Still bloody nervous about the assessment anyway!
Hello to you all, Having my first ever Domestic Installer assessment on Thursday (Was previously a QS for 11 years for an approved contractor... but that was 5 years ago!!) and was wondering had anyone just had an assessment or knows what they are majoring on at the moment? Thanks in advance!
Try a company called A J Mare Instruments at Perry Barr in Birmingham. 0121 356 8511. Used to have all my engineers instruments tested and calibrated there and service was great.
