On the m.i.c.c cable the 3 phase from the board the resistance between each phase is about 88 mega ohms so think ill get marked dorwn for that also the in the board the conducters are about an inch short of the breaker
the only thing im pleased with is the conduit oh well got another 2 days of...
Please forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject.Normally when i have done pir tests i have used the r1+r2 method . To obtain the Zs you obviously use the formula Ze +(r1 +r2 )=Zs example Ze =0.02 r1+r2=0.46 therefore Zs=0.48 I have just been using the R2 method...
I have recently fitted some lights in an attic and when I came to testing found the cpc showing 60 volts. I switched each mcb off in turn and the fault dissapeared when I turned off the downstairs lighting mcb. I am going back this weekend to sort the problem out so will start with an IR test...
Hi All,
Q: If an earth fault loop impedance instrument records a valve of 0.55Ω at 20°c, what is the corrected valve ( Using the rule of thumb method ) to allow for conductor maximum operating temperature?
Any replies will be appreciated.

Am I right in thinking that for any ring circuit the maximum value that r1+r2 can be is 1/2 the loop reading on the phase + 1/2 the loop reading for the cpc ( measured at the CU ) Or has my maths let be down?
Hi all,
Could someone please advise me what the standard procedure would be if you were to get a high Ze reading of 8 Ohms. It was a TNS earthing arrangement. Main earth was upgraded to 16mm, gas and water both verified at 10mm. Im figuring that i will have to liase with the electrical...
I tested a TT system today earth rod impedance was 1467 ohms, I say thats a pass ie, less than 1667 ohms, the QS at work says that it's a fail, it must be less than 200ohms......who's right ??? and why ??
Hi
Was looking for a supplyer for Flyers and Buisness cards and came across this website.
Fort I would post it so you can take advantage of the offer too.

How do l calculate the maximum cable length for a maximum Zs value?
Isn't there also correctional factors to be applied for ambient temperature?
i'm in year 3 and i'm stuck on a year 1 question, is there any hope for me??
i was wondering if someone could jog my memory on this 301 question please.
question:
A copper conductor has a rho value of 17.5 x 10-9. calculate the resistance of the copper wire if it's length is 20 meters and...
I have a question,
When testing a circuit protected by an RCBO, lets say a type B, in the max permissible column do you put the value from the Regs for the breaker type or 1666 Ohms?
Rang the NIC Tech line and NAPIT's and they both say different.
It's just that if you put the value from the...
Hi everyone
Would be really grateful for your help on this.
I have my 1st NICEIC assessment on Monday (am bricking it) - anyhow I only have an old table & I need one like you get on the back of the proper NICEIC pads - the most up to date table.
Has anyone got one they could send me so...

Two resistors, when connected in parallel have an equivalent resistance of 15 ohms. If one of the resistors is 60 ohms what is the value of the other?
Question from 2330.
Can't apply 1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3
Was suggested use product over sum method, but not been able to calculate it...
just a quick question I want to clear up, basically when testing a ring circuit, why is it that the ohm values slightly increase per reading, and highest at the centre point?
and by how much does the resistance increase when a cable is connected, say with a terminal block. apposed to say a...
