Discuss 2394 On line exam in the Electrician Courses : Electrical Quals area at ElectriciansForums.net

It is closed book, and if you are OK with GN3, GS38, and have good idea about test, insp and certification, you will be fine. It covers both the 2394 and 2395, so expect questions about both Initial Verification, and Periodic, so be familiar with the relevant paperwork for those and Minor Works.

I deliver the course, and on the first exam i looked over shoulders to see what the Q's were like, and to be fair, they were quite basic, and everyone passed. there comments were also along the lines of "that was easy". Save your worrying and effort for the written.

Hi guys, I'm after getting my city and guilds testing and inspecting cert but understand its all changing. A condition of my new job is to get that sorted but which exam or exams will I have to do? Has 2391 been extended till march now? cheers

If its on line it cant be to difficult

If its a written exam then more effort will be required

read everything you can on I&T such as GN3 with new amendment incorporated and part 6 and 7 the regs and any other books you can get such as exam success if they have updated it yet
Chris kitchers guide to I&T , scaddons
GS38
memorandum of guidance on the elcy at work regs

good luck

Cheers pal, I've already got my hands on all of them and have started the revision. Looked on the C & G site and I'd guess it's more 2395 as that is solely testing and it says it incorporates a multiple choice exam, written assessment & a practical piece so seems a fair bit to it?

The on-line exam is common to the 94/95 ! The questions are similar to the Questions 1-20 on the old 2391, i.e. similar to the regs, but without the answers !
The 2394 written concentrates on Initial Verification, while 2395 concentrates on Periodic Inspection, the same as the 2391 !
The 2394 practical assessments again are the same as the 2391; deliberate mistake board (deviation from regs-IP ratings/wrong cable sizes for mcb's/ polarity etc.); there's an IR test assessment; a loop impedance assessment; and carry out an Initial Verification on the big board (including all paperwork)
The 2395 assessments have been reduced in number; 1st assessment is a number of photos where you have to suggest why they may not comply, and a C1/C2/C3 classification for each? The main assessment is the same board as the 2394, but there will be 2 faults on it, and you have to find them?
If you can get hold of some 'sample' exam questions, then the 1st section will be similar to the 94/95 multi-guess on-line exam as I said before.
Guilds have produced their 'exam success' range of books, but I don't think they've done 1 for the 2394/95 series yet ? The 2391 book is useful as it explains exactly how you should be answering ie wording/content etc.
I might have a scan of it somewhere?
