Discuss 5 Amp Lighting Sockets Help. in the Lighting Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

hi malc but if the cables are installed at a depth of less than 50mm and not mechanically protected for the whole of the circuit then RCD needed i think mate

Though the RCD protection my still be needed for the cable and regulation 526.6.6. From my original post Karl.

Reg 411.3.3 states sockets for "general use". Is that general use as in use by anyone in general or general as in equipment, ie vacuum cleaner, hair dryer Television etc etc.

I would have thought that it meant by use by anyone in general as the exception part of the reg states a labelled socket. Just wanted to throw something out here to see if it provoked a thought, as I'm sure there maybe some that would interpret the reg as I highlighted in my OP.
