Discuss Adding in a D/P isolator BEFORE meter ???/ in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Why are we all still playing this game... talking about DNO's when pulling fuses when there is no isolation. Pull the fuse, install an isolation point, I have friends who work for network operators and can't give any answer to this type of dilemma. The fact that we have to work on consumer side equipment with no isolation means is a farce and everyone knows it

Pulling fuses isn't the issue being discussed.

The issue is adding equipment before the meter.

How are you safely isolating to change the CU then? I've heard any cabling from the meter backwards is the DNO's and from the meter onwards is ours.

I've been told by boss don't replace the old thin red/black DNO tails, just the meter-isolator-CU in 25mm tails per spec. Seems a waste of effort if the main incoming cables are poop.

50% of the time I have to move the meter down anyway to fit a metal skeleton board in, especially fitting a REC2 isolator. Helps to have a seal crimper
