I Did training as an Electro technical officer cadet and have been working at sea for 6/7 years as an electrician. I’ve got loads of qualifications but everything is sea related. (Electrical and electronic marine engineernig foundation degree, high voltage training, diesel electric propulsion)

I’m looking at getting qualified to work on land and i see NVQ level 3 and apprenticeship requirements everywhere. I‘ve read I need to pass an AM2e exam. I‘m just getting really confused by all the different sources of information.

The only certain information that I got was that it is essential to get 18th edition wiring regulations but after that I’m at a loss.

Anybody who has made the change or with really useful information please share your knowledge.

Thanks.

TL;DR
Seafarer ETO wanting land qualifications. Where do i start?
Hi,

did you get anywhere with this?
I bet your HV experience will count.
I’m not sure if you are dedicated to being an installation electrician whether commercial or domestic, but your experience in maintenance should count for something.

let me know how it goes!
