UK Anyone know what this type of cable was called

It’s cropped up before on the forum, but I can’t recall what it was called.

It’s like singles in a small, 3 compartment flexible trunking, which looks like cable… and the singles are loose?
Was it used in pre-fab houses?

Yep that's pretty much what it is, it was in a block of 4 flats built sometime after 89, the colours are representative of the conductor size. just wasn't sure if it was a sleeve that got slid on where needed or it was part of the cable

CU Entry, Old 1980s cable (?)

I think I'm stuck again, I need 9 cables to enter the new CU but these cables are 20mm X 10mm and most entry points are 20mm x 20mm. So drill bigger holes in the box!

Supposed to make re-wiring easier , but anyone who has tried rewiring a pre-fab / council flat will know this stuff is not rewireable as it was intended to be

Yup no chance solid single cores, maybe if they were stranded might have a chance because stranded is more flexible.
Horrible stuff
Going off on one, remember an office block in London Golders Green new build, yellow hose pipe (thats the only way I can describe it) kind of flexi conduit was used with singles for sockets and lighting.

I think it was made by BICC and called octoflex or optoflex, there used to be a few Council built flats near us that were wired in it and there still are several in Warwick that are and still in service! Use to see it in voids with a galv nail through the middle to fasten it to the wall. Horrible stuff to get the outer sheath off without cutting your fingers!

It came in pre cabled packs each marked for each room…. Nightmare on Elm Street or any street

Ive seen it in flats, in and around Warwickshire which could have been built in the 80s too
