Could someone tell me where i can find the what colours relate to what fuse rating for a BS3036 fuse. Got a question that is confusing me, it says "A newly installed domestic lighting circuit would protected by a BS3036 type fuse would normally be", then it goes on to give 4 possible answers, such as
A. Type C 6 amp and blue

According to the BRB the possible fuse ratings for a BS3036 are
5A, 15A, 20A, 30A, 45A, 60A or 100A. None of which are in the possible list of answers:confused:

I am probably missing the point but if anyone can help it would be appreciated.

The colour codes of the commonly used Wylex rewirables bs3036 was 5amp white, 15amp blue, 30amp red and if memory serves me 20amp yellow and 40/45 amp green but im sure il be corrected if wrong on the last two.
So i assume one of the answers is 5amp white then.
If their is a 6amp type B answer id go for that one and explain to your tutor the misleading question if its wrong but il agree with you the question and given possible answers dont relate.

Darkwood, thanks for your reply, unfortunately none of the answers are 5 amp, maybe its a trick question:rolleyes:. The nearest is "Type B 10 amp and red". I'll make a note on the answer sheet when i send it in.

Pop an extra option at the bottom and put the right answer this way it will make them look twice at the question and you never know you might get a bonus point lol.

Didn't give the answers before 'cos i didn't want you to think i was cheating:D The answers are

Type C 6 amp and blue
Type B 10 amp and red
6am (sic) and white
16 amp and green.

Type rating (B, C etc.) does not apply to BS3036 rewireables as far as I am aware (it's for breakers only)

The answer to your question is "6am (sic) and white" although '6am' should really be spelled '5amp'. Wouldn't be the first time exam answers were wrong...
