i'll admit - i'm a bit of an infrequent visitor and somewhat of a lurker (usually when i find something i can respond to, like give advice on how to do something, someone's already done it!), but i do enjoy viewing others' posts from time to time. But when i logged in today, i found that i couldnt view attachments, and had a message inviting me to post something as i hadnt done so for 60+ days.

Are these 2 things related? what's the benefit of stopping people viewing the forum, perhaps learning a thing or two?

The forum wants people to contribute to the posts and so reminds you after a while if you have not posted for a while.
It is a way to get more traffic on the site. The forum is a business, unfortunately.
If you have now posted can you now view attachments?

Where are the attachments you can't see? Can you post a link?

It maybe that they're somewhere on the forum you don't have full permissions for like the DIY area for example which is on an 'opt-in' basis so you don't have full access there by default, you have to request access from an Admin. In the DIY forum you can probably see the threads but not see images or attachments, anywhere else you shouldn't have a problem.

Another possibility is that an attachment might have been deleted by the person who originally posted it. Sometimes this can leave a dead link in the post.

With the his track record for posting (4 in 3years) expect the answer late next year sometime with a bit of luck, wouldn't hold your breath Marvo.
