Hi All,

I live in a block of cottages, where the same landlord owns the whole block.

There is one tv ariel on the top of my block.

The coax feed is brought into my home, where l suspect that there is a tv booster (somewhere not accessible, as my loft is impossible to get into. I can only just put my head above the loft hatch). The tv booster itself seems to be fed from my mains supply for my lighting circuit.

It then leaves my house, by means of SELV and is fed to two other houses. I know this, as whenever l remove my lighting fuse, everyones TVs signal from the other two addresses, goes off.

Is this legal?

My worry is that in the event of a fault, lets say a short in the secondary coil of the TV booster, that there is a possibility of the mains voltage appearing at all 3 addresses including my own, at the ariel coaxial boxes that are used to feed the TVs.

Will be tomorrow before l check feedback as not at home. Thanks, JJ...

A booster will normally boost the signal and then there will be coax off to the other TVs.
It is very unlikely that you have an ELV circuit supplying other boosters in the other houses.
The signal noise ratio would be terrible.

i think your worrying too much, at worse your paying the electric bill for their tv distribution which probably equates to oh.........10p per year

If there was a risk of mains appearing on the secondary side, the system would not have come into widespread use.

If there was any risk of crossover, the use of Transformers in general would have beeen banned and T.V and the Internet would probably not exist.
