How is this earthing table derived and what would it apply to?

it applies to all circuits, giving the miimum size of earthing conductor for each size if phase conductor in a multicore cable. As you are in US, the metric sizes may be confusing you as you use AWG.

You could start by telling us where this table is from, which country it applies to etc.

Quoting random tables and asking us why they are what they are, or how they are applied, is just going to lead to a bunch of guesses from us.

I believe that is from AS3000 which is for New Zealand and Australia.

This is the answer I was looking for!

So as you would imagine I'm curious how this table is allowed to differ from the simplified method listed in IEC 60364-5-54? Or does something within the AS standards already take (make up for) the reduced size CPCs into account?
