Discuss Electrical Jobs in the Business Related area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thanks for sharing Dan. In the U.S., there were about 656,000 electricians in 2004 including two-thirds of wage and salary workers specialized in the construction work and the balance worked as maintenance electricians in other industries. Besides prospects for electrical engineers are very good since jobs are expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2014.

Hi,
I borrow my own question from a thread in "non UK work"

After searching a dozen!? Jobs at oilcareers and many other recruitment sites
I'm beginning to wonder if anyone ever got a job through these pages? ...
not just one's friend's friend .. but for real!

I am not looking for electrician jobs directly, but more an electrical engineer or project manager project engineer, etc.

I know that some companies are taking cheap labor from Pakistan and other low-wage countries
and of course I respect that, but for God's sake do not put up job offers that do not exist..

but there is a tsunami of jobs every week! it's just false job or bull****?

I have many years experience in project management, installation, low voltage and high voltage transformers, etc. and has also worked on the rig in Norway as well as cruise ships and shipyards throughout the world, so I have experience!

but nevertheless no one ever request!

I see many tasks that would suit me, but total silence
maybe take them very long to respond? a bit bitter you become

experience any??

to answer myself on the issue so it's all about contacts, of course ..

We are all enountering the same problem.
As soon as an agency gets a sniff of a job they wil advertise it.
Serveral time now I have seen four or five agencies advertise the same job,but only one has the contract for it.
Another thing is companies and agencies will advertise non existent jobs. They put in a good advert saying good money and permanent job etc to get lots of replies.
They then just keep all the people on their database for the future skills.
THis is not much good for poor sods like myself who are wasting their time applying for these jobs and hoping to get a phone call.

exactly, I can not understand why we are wasting time applying for a job that does not exist
I even paid for "adjustment of cv "....

it makes me so angry and as you type, so can sit at home waiting for somebody to call

it feels like they use people who look fore "exciting" projects abroad

For my part, I got a good job back home in Sweden, but the dream of a job abroad remains ..

I once got a job where the manager dealing with recruitment had 5 copies of my cv from entirely different sources, at least two without my permisssion ripped from cvlibrary if my memory serves correct, so it goes both ways. Employment Agencies are just another tax on our potential earnings, but how do we keep working these days without them?

I know a couple of old timers who would never work for an agency(married into money) so they can be more fussy about what job they take.
I can only speak about my experiences in Central Scotland but there are many companies that will only use agencies these days they won't start anyone books in.
Their thinking is they will always get enough labour to do their jobs. And with the shortage of work out their they are right.
One of the bad things that is happening is some bad apples of management from some of the big companies(some of the dirty seven)are leaving there and going to the smaller companies and ruining them as well. With their use of production control, use of labourers doing installation work and only using agencies and the rest of the list.
This means that there is only a few companies left that you would want to work for long term.
