I'm encountering a problem with the lighting in my kitchen. I reside in an apartment that has a light fixture utilizing 2 T8 fluorescent bulbs equipped with an electronic instant start ballast. I'm looking to upgrade them to LED bulbs. I have taken out the ballast and wired the tombstones directly (shunted), but the lights are not turning on.
Here's the LED bulb I'm attempting to install: TORCHSTAR L-SERIES 4' T8 LED TUBE LIGHT BULBS - 18W - 4000K/5000K
Here are the current bulbs installed in the fixture: Sylvania 21777 FO32 830 ECO
For the direct wire configuration, I've attached two blue wires to the hot (black) line and one red wire to the neutral (white) line. The tombstones are shunted, with one blue wire coming from each tombstone on the left side. The right side has one red wire coming from a tombstone, and a blue wire with a black stripe connecting the two.
Any advice on what might be going wrong or suggestions for correcting this would be greatly appreciated.
