Key test switches on ceiling

Can I put a key switch on the ceiling for the non maintained emergency light illuninare. This is so that they are no wire trunking showing on the wall.

a chair is not a method of accessing something out of reach.
it is a device to make working at a low desk comfortable!!

If you need access equipment for routine testing it is a bad idea I regularly note this in reports.

I agree with Westward and regularly reposition key switches down to 'switch height' when I'm replacing the associated light fitting. I'm more motivated to do this as I'm not very tall...

Depending on the layout of the building and how many lights there are it can become very confusing if the emergencies are here there and everywhere. Just put it next to the switch.

Some emergency light fittings have the test switch on the fitting… but of course, at that height, it’s not very handy either.

The positioning of emergency lights depends on a number of things… which you should already have thought of.

Who has designed this installation you can't just put these things in ad hoc. I assume you have BS5266:1.

In that case I would make sure you comply with all regulations, of which there are many.
