LED lights on before terminating?!

Hi,

I've installed a load of twin spot emergency lights in an industrial setting. I haven't terminated them into the board yet (not even glanded) but some are dimly lit up and some flickering slightly already??
Is this induced current? even though there are minimal cables if any run alongside them. They aren't huge runs either, probs 20-30 metres?

Thanks for any advice....

I expect the batteries have some charge in them (assuming you connected the batteries) although from new they are generally pretty well charged. Being non maintained they shouldn't be illuminated when the power is connected anyway.

Ah I should've said. Yes the batteries are connected, but for a about a week or so they were off as expected, then all of a sudden they started glowing and flickering! Spooky

They aren't even glanded into the board! They do run past an HV boundary however...

The batteries were probably low, and having been connected for a while are probably now too low for the control circuit to function correctly and it has flipped over to the on state or is oscillating between the two. It's shoddy design not to take into account what happens when the batteries get really low, but it's quite common.
