I have lost the use of my two loft TV aerials due to interference from the installation of foil backed dense foam insulation. I guess this is caused by signal reflection. Would any know of a solution to enable me to bring the aerials back into use. I know the obvious solution is to erect them outside, but that can be costly.

Unfortunately it may well be either mount the areal outside or remove the foil backed insulation

As per James. Your aerial is now in a Faraday cage screening the signal from it. If the aerial is near to the roof insulation, you could try cutting a section out about a metre square in the centre of line of sight of the aerial to the transmitter. If you could remove the foil from that section you could put the foil-less piece back!

Have you tried an amplified indoor aerial, perhaps placed in a window (upper floor?) as an alternative?

edit - you might find cutting a horizontal slot much less than 1m tall would still work. I'm not up on signal polarization these days!
