I recently purchased these pathway lights:

After installing them I realized they're too bright, so I installed one of these dimmers:

The dimmer doesn't dim the lights very much. They go from extremely bright to very bright. They are on a 14v terminal off my Vista MT-600 transformer. Any idea why the dimmer wouldn't be working properly? Is there another dimmer you recommend I try?

Thanks,
Frank

The pathway lights are designed for a range of input voltage (12 - 24) so probably have some sort of internal driver or regulator to control current to the LED's. So the internal electronics will probably fight pulse width modulation from the dimmer you have.

You could try reducing the supply voltage to all the lamps below the specified minimum, but that may introduce other effects, like flashing, and/or the lamps may run at different brightness to each other. Worth a try though!

The spec for your lights doesn't mention whether they are dimmable or not, but it seems they may not be ☹️

As Avo Mk8 mentions, these lights will have an internal driver / regulator, which will try to produce the specified light output. So NO dimmer is likely to work properly.

I'm going to return them and order these instead:

I should be able to replace the bulbs with what I want.
