I know this has come up before and the 1552 is a bit of an old girl now, but for anyone experiencing the dirty-contacts-causing-rotary-switch-misselection issue, I have posted a step by step repair guide here:
David Savery Electrical Services Ltd. - Megger MFT1552 repair
It's pretty straightforward, requires few tools and took only half an hour despite my post Eurovision hangover.
I post this for information only and make no guarantees of success or of its suitability for others to follow. This will invalidate any warranty & calibration and I imagine Megger themselves would state that unauthorised repair means the unit can no longer be considered as reliable. But really, it's an easy fix that they shouldn't be charging £180ish to perform themselves.
It's at the above link for those who want to review it and decide on their options.
