I have my late brother's ROBIN kts 1620 MFT he had from new used it while working for London transport so it has sentimentle value to me and I would love to put it to good useJust wondering which multifunctional testers you guys have, and how long have they lasted?
Hoping this becomes a handy thread for you all. There seems to be a massive price difference between them all. But then I guess some do things others don't? Not sure.
Let us know which multifunctional testers you have, which ones you wish you had, and how long the one you have has lasted so far.
Bummer. My Dilog DL9118 died in the middle of an EICR on Friday.
Shows a continuity reading of 0.24 on low ohms even with test leads disconected.
Lasted around 2years
I looked after it, test leads always coiled up nice after each use too..
Cheers that is an interesting angle on a possible -failure mode !loads of surge protected extensions leads.
I know sounds silly, and its clutching at straws but everything was in the place was on a spd extension leads.Cheers that is an interesting angle on a possible -failure mode !
I will I'll post some pictures too ?Well if you have a new MFT and no intention of paying for the old one to be repaired there is nothing stopping you opening the old one and blowing/brusing it out in case it is a tiny bit of metallic contamination. Obviously without out it connected and batteries removed!
as there is no button for RIP Megger, will just have to say long live MetrelMy trusty Megger 1552 died last Saturday, keeps on blowing the fuses and tripping RCDs on the no trip setting. I was due a new tester after nearly ten years of arduous service, opted for Metrel in the end:

leads would come in useful. how much do you need for it?If you want. Do you just want the unit or all the gubbins with it as well such as leads etc?
You can also have the calibration cert that's less than two months old... ??
TBH mate just cover the postage, shouldn't cost too much. I can send out using Hermes over the weekend if you want.leads would come in useful. how much do you need for it?
I have various digital bits of kit and found that the ones with coloured screen eat batteries i.e. charge only last hours instead of days, how does your Metrel compare to your old Megger, or have you not used it enough to form an opinion, purely an academic interest. My trusty Megger 1552 died last Saturday, keeps on blowing the fuses and tripping RCDs on the no trip setting. Metrel mi3100. Bought in a hurry as a necessary replacement. Main attraction? Price. However its proven itself as really reliable over last 8 years. My biggest worry with MFT, s are the couriers taking them for calibration.
I like to take it in to a local wholesalers for their on-site calibration days feel its a safer option.Metrel mi3100. Bought in a hurry as a necessary replacement. Main attraction? Price. I'll second that Mike, after owning a martindale ET4500 for 2 years, not liking the soft case but liking the tester I ordered a Fluke case for it. I paid over £40 just for the case but I'm glad I did now. I have no idea why other manufacturers don't do something similar.Love the Fluke case, about the most hard wearing case I have seen for any MFT.

I looked at that, very similar if not the same only in black. Strangely though on Ebay the Di-Log was £ 68 compared to £ 45 for the Fluke.Di-Log DL9110.
Di-Log MFTs come in a hardcase similar to Fluke's.

I don't know why the price is so high other than demand, they do seem to sell well, but they are good for the job. I'm sure there's a market there to exploit. They're very similar, but I never looked to see if the case was available separately.
Ebay pricing is often dictated by what the market will permit, rather than retail prices. While some very good bargains can be found, it can the case that ebay works out quite expensive.
Edit: Di-Log case £39.95 from testermans, but currently out of stock.
i've got that same robin IR/cont. tester. had it for 30 years.Megger 1711 here, only had it a month but then I bought it based on the fact that this beast passed down to me by another spark still works. (Plus bonus Robin IR tester in stylish leather case)
