NAPIT Certification Scheme napit membership

I'm looking to register with napit as they seem to be the cheapest( not always better I know) but as I don't get a lot of my own stuff find it hard to warrant paying nic prices, any napit members or ex with positive/negative info?

Iv been with them for 5 years now, never had any problems, my napit controller always happy to answer any questions that come up.

Why not hang on till April, there will be a line of registered sparks standing at your door begging (for a small fee) to sign it off for you

Rumour has it that registered sparks will be able to sign off 3rd party work.

Which scheme will go bust first then?

yep and newly Qualified supervisors will need a new qualification for domestic and another for commercial and industrial

basically a DI NVQ and a NEW QUAL for people wanting to be QS for commercial and industrial work

Existing Qs will satisfy the requirements and wont need to do the newer quals

i.e if you are a scheme member and builder/plonker joe needs a cert and he offers you a few quid, you'll be able to do it.

Government are to accept and implement option 3
January 2012

. Our proposed changes to Part P seek to reduce the costs associated with Part P while
maintaining the health and safety benefits. This is proposed to be done by reducing the
amount of notifiable work and by allowing for third-party certification of work when the work
is carried out by people who are not members of Competent Person Schemes



And the option the governments has decided on is shown below

Option 3 delivers, however, significant net benefits of £135.6m by maintaining the benefits
associated with regulation through Part P, but by significantly reducing the associated costs.
On that basis, the preferred approach is to amend the Part P regime to reduce its cost
while maintaining the benefits from reduced injury, damage and fire attendance.

I'm with benchmark, there cheap, free notifications too, although they did stiff me for tradesmens guarantee insurance this year at 70 quid, does everyone else have this?? i couldn't find much online about it at thetime but they wouldn't renew my membership without it

Yes a third party will be able to sign it off but they should have inspected during the installation as welll as carrying out necessarry testing

its a load of bull thought they was the changes was to reduce costs and notifications for the customer and the installer

were now anyone cand do the work but only a memer of a scam can sign it off and new memebrs of the scams will need new qualifications a NVQ aimed at DIs to work on domestic and another techincal diploma for mew entrants wanting to be QS for commercial / Industrial electrics I read in the SWITCHED ON TRADE MAGAZINE by the ESC and will come into effect 6th April 2013
New entrants from then will need a new LV3Qualification in Installng , testing and ensuring compliance of electrical installations in dwellings and is available from Dec 2012
and QS

it says there are a number of routes and this is for the qualification route for QS for dwellings

and then goes onto say for work in commercial and industrial the new LV3 Diploma in Installing electrtechnical systems and equpment ( building structures and the environment )

existing qualified supervisors will already meet the criteria

As for the tax man (one of the real reasons behind this IMHO):- Mr builder or Joe down the pub does a bit of work, Electrician comes along to cert it. Tax man has a paper trail to whoever did the work in the first place and hits them with a bill.

because Paul the scams that be dont care!!.....what it is......is they get your cash....they dont care about aunt flo, PC copper or the boy down the road.....
they dont care who pays more....or who hasn`t notified......so it goes on...and on...and on......
and the builder will just deny any responsibility for electrical works carried out anyway....
