Hi everyone,

Just a quick one, has anybody ever worked for the company Graham Asset Management? I have an interview with them for an apprentice role as I am looking for someone to take me on as an apprentice. I have read that they do mostly maintenance and not really electrical installation, I was told they only do the odd installation job.. would this be a good way of doing my apprenticeship or should I look at other options? Like maybe a building contractor that does more installation work?

I hope that doesn't sound silly it's just I am 22 so this will potentially be my last shot at the apprenticeship so would love some advice! Thank you!

Depends on what you want in life Alex, working for a building contractor and doing mainly Domestic, doesn't really give you any appreciation of how things work.
I started as a house Basher went to maintenance, and thoroughly enjoyed it learnt a lot and ended up going back into installation albeit not Domestic, if it's an Apprenticeship you want then go for it. I think I would if I had to start again, and Apprenticeships were as hard to come by as they are today. Whatever your choice good luck.

agree with pete. with maintenance you may find that it's a better opportunity to discover how things work and why they go wrong. worst work in the trade is house bashing. not too bad on new build if you can put up with the muppet plasterers and plumbers who's sole purpose in life is to make your job as difficult as their tiny minds can make it. go for the offer. plenty of time to branch out once you've got your ticket.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the replies! Definitely does make sense what you's are saying. If I get it then hopefully I can get started with it all, really wanted to do it for some time now. I feel like my age is against me though, I'm only 22 but a few people have told me that employers are looking for younger guys, but will just have to wait and see.
