Discuss Neue (wickes) single oven in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hopefully someone can help with what may be a very basic question:

I've just bought a new single oven from wickes to install in a new kitchen, from a brand called Neue. The oven has come without a lead/plug and from what I can tell has no small cover plate covering the electrical wiring points. All I can assume is that I have to take the whole back casing off, but that strikes me as very odd, especially as it's screwed in with those screws requiring a screwdriver with a star shaped head, which I have, but usually screams to me that it's not meant to be tampered with!

has anyone else install one of these....they also sell them at Benchmarx kitchens.

many thanks

alex

What does it say in the manual about installing the oven?

What does it say in the manual about installing the oven?

it just says ' this oven is not supplied with a plug or cable' and that all wiring must be done in accordance with regulations etc etc etc. There is no instructions where to wire or diagram/schematics or anything.....utter rubbish.

it's almost certain to have a small cover plate over the terminals. if in doubt, consult a local electrician.

Some manuals are mate. Some also specify that you have to buy a type of cables..
Looks like you may have to get an electrician in... Could try posting something up on this site. I'm sure there will be someone near where you live.
What is the rating of the oven? We know the make (Neue) but what is the model?

In fairness to the OP, it would seem that the vast majority of oven manufacturers do not give specifics when it comes to cables which is a pain all round!

You would have thought that all manuals would have informed you where to connect to though.. or am I looking at this to logically...

but in china, all children are taught how to connect cookers at the age of 9.

Unless you go for an induction hob, you've got to be totally mad to swop from gas to electric hob!!!

Why not go and ask Wickes, or contact the manufacturers (or their agents) to find out where the connection point is on this oven....
