Hi folks, hope you all are well.

I've been asked to replace 3x battens fittings (6ft) to smaller fittings (4ft) in a office.

I reckon I can get them all fitted in 1.5 hours easily.

How much would you charge? Job is in Oldham. The location is only 8 minutes drive.

Thank you.

2 hours (in case you hit problems)x hourly chargeout rate + materials + 0.5 hours travelling time + time spent filling out MWC (if you're doing that)

OR waiting for the above to be moved.

Also H&S person wanting Risk assess and methods and challenging you working off steps.

1.5 hrs,, not a hope.

Thank you for your inputs peeps.

Yes health and safety is my primary concern, but these days theres too many risk assessment for basic things that slow jobs right down.

or a pre-emptive strike...

such as a simple call requesting that the working area be cleared of crap beforehand...

I hate jobs like this. You are on a hiding to nothing. You buy 3 fittings and add your percentage. You go to fit them and all goes well and you are done in an hour.
To the customer you came and went in 1/2 an hour and now they have what they think is a disproportionate bill.
Something like £180 and you weren't there 2 minutes.

Or, the job did not go so well. 1, fitting wouldn't light. There were no good fixings in the ceiling. people kept asking to get passed. You had to go back to the wholesalers for another fitting. Now you have taken a morning over a simple job............ and the customer still thinks they have a big bill for a few lights.

Reminds me of a film

Ex-Leper: Half a dinare for me bloody life story?
Brian: There's no pleasing some people.
Ex-Leper: That's just what Jesus said, sir.
