Red Arrow LFB55A modular light fittings

Hi all,

Long time no speak.

I've not fitted these (Red Arrow LFB55A modular light fittings) before and am new to this type of lighting.

I've received a whole lot of the Red Arrow LFB55A lights for an office refurb and have noticed that despite being the same model number, they're different internally!

One type has just L, CPC and N with just one electronic ballast in it, but the other version has L1 (switched), L2 (unswitched), CPC and N, an emergency option what seems like 2 ballasts (maybe one is for the battery option and the other just AC)

The one with the L1 and L2 has no wiring diagram for it.

I've fitted the simpler version (1 pair so far) and they work fine, but the other version (also one pair) doesn't work and I cannot work out why.

I've tried in L1 and L2 just in case, but option neither works. Checked all the connections etc, but to no avail.

Before I go much further, I thought I'd ask on here. See photos below, as I am a little confused as to why units with the same code are so different!

try linking L1 and L2. then power up.

it's because an EM requires a L to both. usually 1 is perm L and the other switched. feel free to use the thanks button. :49:

If It is ether a maintain or non maintained fitting for emergency use only , if they were supplied to be ether then i would check the drawing as they maybe need to be maintained (on 24/7) but the switched supply can be turned off for when its not a requirement depending on the building they are being fitted in.


Edit sorry just looked at the pics they are fittings not stand alone emergency lights as i thought.


so I would think you have one as a emergency version and one that is not is that correct ?

fitted many of them but never herd red arrow before thought they were aeroplanes

Hi, yes that is correct from what I've come to understand.
I read that they're supposed to come with the backup batteries too, but these ones haven't. Dunno why, maybe because the guy who's acting as main contractor that got them, got them for free.

They may not be red arrow, it's just the brand which came up when I googled the model number.

In that case what telectrix told you is correct you will need to link out both terminals for it to work as a normal fitting
