Can anyone clear this up for me whos maybe installed a few?

It says the ring doorbell 2 needs a 24V ac power supply to hardwire the unit

Ring sell a plug in power adapter for their doorbell......great!

But apparently with the ring 2 only, this still wont work and you have to buy an additional resistor to solder inline to the power supply to get it to function(from amazon, ring dont sell them)

Then ive heard reports even this is hit and miss and still doesnt always work

Surely you dont have to bastardize a purpose made Ring power supply to acheive this

Will just a standard 24V ac doorbell transformer not work?

Got one to do next week, its a long run and dont want to look like a pratt at the end when it doesnt work lol!
