just looked at the pic. solar panels on dog kennels. buggers are spoilt rotten these days.

That's the most sensible reason for global warming I'v heard. 😱. The sky is falling, what was that Chickens name? Leghorn of something similar.

Chicken Little, would you believe.

I know I wrote it in jest, but it is said that the earth is in the “Goldilocks” zone… as in, it’s not too hot, not too cold…. Just right.

So a thousand miles in or out of solar orbit is highly probable…. And that could affect global surface temperature…
We’re just floating through space… and it’s only the speed we’re travelling against gravity of the sun that’s keeping us from either falling toward the sun, or shooting off in a straight line..

What the green zealots don't mention is that CO2 levels had been declining for millennia... had they continued unabated, they would have reached the magic level at which there wasn't enough to sustain plant life and the planet would have died. If you go back to the most verdant period of earths history, CO2 was at levels around 6000ppm... we're panicking about them being over 400ppm? Evidence shows the planet is greener now than it was 30 years ago and that this is a result of increasing CO2 levels... this is good for us because more CO2 has a huge impact on plant life... it grows bigger, faster and is more resilient to drought events (all of this information is out there in peer reviewed papers, but hey... it's not the official narrative so it doesn't get air time).

Like wise, temperatures.... in geological terms, the industrial revolution is a heart beat for the planet and yes, there is no doubt we have had a minor impact on temperatures, but in the grand scheme of things, the earth is not at it's hottest. It is at the tail end of an ice age so it's stands to reason that the cycle which has been going on for millennia is continuing and it will continue to get warmer (the reasons for this are mainly due to orbital cycles of various astronomical bodies).

Wild fires... the scientific suggests that the area burned annually is actually decreasing if you look at longer term, likewise for serious weather events... the trend is actually downwards. But that's not the impression you get from the scaremongering media.

Sure, we need to cut back on fossil fuels and retain them for things such as plastics, but from an electricity generating perspective, the sensible course of action would have been to build more nuclear... long term it's the cleanest, safest, most energy dense form
of power generation we have... but again, the green zealots have done a number and scared everyone. In it's history, hydroelectric power has killed more people than nuclear and I think deaths resulting from accidents involving renewables is higher as well.

It's all a big scam and if it continues there is a very real chance it will bankrupt the country.

It is so obvious to anyone with sense that Nuclear was the way forward, but the scare tactics employed by Zealots and dare I say unions, made the choice far too unpopular for any politician to stick their head above the parapet and back building them, I wonder how much it would cost to re-commission Dungeness compared to building new.

IMO climate change is all part of a controlling agenda started by an "influencing" minority that belittle those who go against their science that is based on a few hundred years of weather data when the earth has been doing it's own thing for many millions of years and will carry on doing it regardless. I always remember the hole in the Ozone layer was going to cause major problems what happened to that

This 100% ....the amount of people fooled by all the nonsense over the last 3 years is unreal. Its like everyone is desperate to "cling" to something

The chemicals causing it were gradually phased out globally, but it still persists apparently
It is covered in a reasonably readable manner here:

I actually dealt with Dr. Jonathan Shanklin in relation to that area, we built a system for them to gather metrological satellite data from their Rothera base in 1992 as part of this atmospheric science project. After a couple of years it had confirmed the lower resolution data (global data dumps available an hour or so after fly-over) and agreed with their ground-based measurements using a Dobson spectrophotometer. Soon it became useful for them for operational reasons giving weath forecast data for the airstrip and field parties and it is still in operation 30 years on.

Prior to my time, the now-closed group I worked with had taken data from the Nimbus-7 satellite, it had been seen giving stupid results over Antarctica that nobody believed but once the ozone hold had been found the data anomaly made sense.

TL;DR The fairly universal ban on CFCs has greatly reduced the loss and it has been returning.

Do you think there will ever be micro-nuclear plants for individual houses? You just pick up the fuel from specialist shops like you would propane gas cylinders...

There is no way rural Scotland can cope with every new home all electric... The infrastructure isnt there.... even if they do put PV on the roofs.

My particular village, its only our relatively new houses (15 yo) that have mains gas.... The rest are mixed between all electric, propane cylinder, bulk propane or bulk oil tank.

Most farmhouses are oil, with dodgy provision for tractor driven generator and a widowmaker lead.... (ok... not every farmhouse... but i have come across one in my life)
