Discuss Submain cable ideas? in the Industrial Electricians' Talk area at ElectriciansForums.net

Had I of used t&e it would of been trunked but I'm just going to surface it 90% and go through floor voids the other, just seamed a more practical solution and will illuminate 1 badly wired board in the main cupboard, just make it generally tidier

Yeah that's exactly what I've got, an isolator and a metalclad board with only 1 rcd but it's going to be 1 of 7 boards so I don't need split load, and then the whole kitchen will bo on 1 board in the kitchen, should be a tidy job in the end, just have to work through the night now to get the job done, I love working when everyone is sleeping :)

Is it not cheaper to use 16mm twin and earth

Depends how you buy it, for example at TLC (where I tend to order odd lengths of cable)
16mm T&E £4.18 per meter
16mm 2 core SWA £4.43 per meter

However, calculations pending, 10mm SWA takes more than 16mm T&E and thats £3.49 per meter

So by going with the SWA you get greater capacity and don't have to worry about putting an RCD on it should the cable end up buried

I paid £110 for 25m, my boss pays the VAT, not a bad price I thought for that length of armoured, would of cost me close to that in t&e for the 2/3 runs
