Discuss Turn off hob and both MCB and RCD trip. in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

does the circuit work without the hob connected? if so then thats your problem solved
The hob is the only thing on the circuit. Both it, and the oven, have their own MCBs.

are you going to be testing the internals of the hob? if it is the faulty oven and nothing to do with the actual circuit then i feel you may kick yourself when you find out how much parts cost + labour vs a whole unit

ive got 99 problems but a hob isnt one.

Well, when I visit to investigate, depending what testing shows (consensus is that I'll find the hob is faulty) I'll see if I can get "into" the hob. If there's anything obvious there I'll try and fix it, otherwise I'll tell 'em to replace it - which won't go down well, they're from a generation that expects things to last.

if the hob is still under warranty you may void it by having a gander at its guts, good timing for the hob to be out of action though -.- are they hinting at you hosting turkeymas?
