Discuss Type C or B rcbo? & Results on a CU change certificate in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thinking back to when RCBOs started to be "the thing". And that may have been about 2009.
IIRC there was a general shortage of RCBOs at that time and/or manufacturers made RCBOs in C curve initially with B curve being available in volume a year or so later. Something in (what's left of) my brain seems to remember that was the situation.

Just a guess.

Unless the new heaters require Type-C RCBOs then do not install them.

As a side note you should size the RCBOs based on the cable size and installation method of the circuit they are protecting. Not the size of the heaters connected.

I think the OP is just hoping to re use old rcbos to save cost? Id just start a fresh for the money your going to save and slap the old ones on ebay
The plan is to basically merge the 2 existing boards into one consumer unit, one is eco7 the other day rate. he is going over to single tariff, and the ec07 is currently wylex 15amp rewireables. so all i need is a large CU to take the existing type c rcbos that are in the plastic day rate cu and then 5 type b's for the current eco7 circuits, size to be determined once heaters installed.
I started the thread as i found it unusual to see all c type rcbos and half the results missing on the certificate. the cost of 5 rcbos is £125 and the metal CU £75. doubt id get 175 quid for 7 old type c's.
