VDE Screwdrivers recommendations

I’m looking to get a new set of VDE Screwdrivers. I’ve had Wiha and Wera currently. But I’ve found the grip on the Wera a little slippy in the hand when in the cold. I’ve seen both ITL and Boddingtons are highly rated. If anyone has used them or has any recommendations that would be great.

I have both ITL and Boddingtons , B's are the best IMO nice grip and soft handle.

The handle is quite grippy and the tips are very hard wearing and will stand up to plenty of abuse

Most of the guys I work with use CK/Wera/Wiha and the only domestic properties they work on are homers.

Any VDE should be up to the task, but it’s down to the blade size in relation to the terminal screws you would be working on. So there may be a good reason that wiha are common with domestics.

I bought the Wiha 6 piece Slim Set for around £30 from screwfix when they were on special and I have absolutely caned the carp out of them and they are still going

Have tried the Wera and Wiha multi bit changing screw drivers but just found it too faffy keep chopping and changing inserts when up a ladder ect. I do see their merits as you can travel lighter with 1 handle to multiple bits but I just prefer a good old fashioned one piece

Really I only need a #2 pozi and a slotted that fits a standard double socket terminal.
I’m sick of the rounded off tips of the ones I’ve got slipping out the terminal and finding the palm of my hand!

I have tried sharpening rounded flat heads in the past but when you can but a whole new set for 20 quid, now just bin rounded drivers.
Honestly 20 quid for 6 drives its insane value for money

thing i found with the Wiha slims is that the bits were always falling out. usually into a pile of crap left by plasterers et al, or into an inaccessible place.

The multi-bit changeable screwdrivers have their uses like if you want to travel light to a small call-out job or doing EICRs and you only want to take a small carry bag with you.
But for day to day use where you use your screwdrivers for prying , poking , prodding , bashing etc I use my normal screwdrivers , they take more punishment and if you snap or bend one they are cheap to replace

Did lose one of the 10 piece set no more than a few minutes after getting them, that's happened with most sets of screwdrivers I've ever bought. Someone somewhere has a lot of tea stirrers though

Facom is actually the one brand I haven't tried (yet) but everyone seems to rate them so I know which drivers will be next on my shopping list when my Wiha slims give up the ghost

CK tools are pretty poor quality Imo , they do the job but the screwdriver heads round much quicker than other brands.
I used to like Bahco and have had several sets over the years, the earlier sets lasted ages without rounding / snapping. But the newer ones aren't as good. I reckon then have cheapened them down for the DIY market to get into the big sheds

I know they aren;'t fashionable but the basic Draper expert Vde srewdrivers that you get in the blue carry box aren't bad.
I picked up a set from Wickes in the Pandemic for like £11 on offer and they are okay for small jobs etc

I know a few sparks who detest interchangeable baldes, but also a few who bought a Wera set and couldn't believe how convenient it was to carry every option in a small pouch.

Can't ever set blades down or you'll never see them again. Keep them in a pocket or some other bugger will get a bonus - they seem to find the near side of tray and become almost invisible.

Sorry, thought you were on the subject of interchangeable stuff, for which blades are even easier to lose than complete drivers.

I like the idea of having drivers to hand, but find competition for pocket space pretty tight. Blades take up little room and a couple of extras can save climbing up & down or walking back & forth.

I tend to find PH2, 5.5 flat and 4.0 flat the most used, but often need a bigger flathead and small terminal blade. Also handy being able to carry +/-, hex and torx blades, on those occasions when they're needed.
