Veto Pro Pac - Worth the Money?

My old Stanley Backpack has given up after 2 years. The zips broken, and no way of fixing it. I am now tempted to buy a Veto, but as there are so many I’m not sure which model to go for..

I also thought I would ask and see if anyone is selling one on here?

Well worth the money. Had mine around a.year.now and they are so robust and well made. Been through all weather, dropped bashed etc and still going strong.
Its like a Mulberry handbag for trades.
Can carry a lot of tools, as.with any bag if you keep it tidy its easier to find things!
An alternative is the velocity tool packs still not cheap but very good

That looks good. I’ve seen the XX-F which looks massive but I could probably fit everything in it. How much does the LC hold?

Im not a fan of Tote Bags.

I know had my Stanley Backpack for 2 years. That was £25. I just fancy something more organised. I’ve seen the Toughbuilt stuff. It’s not too bad.

I've looked at Veto bags many, many times and can't bring myself to buy one. There's no doubting the fact that they're made to exacting standards, and will outlast anything else on the market, but to my mind they're the sort of product aimed at people who know exactly what they want.

It's not so much the price, but the idea of spending so much on something and then later realising a different model would have been far beter suited to my needs. Cheap bags are readily available and will do everything a Veto will - while they might not last as long, you can replace a lot of £20 bags for the price of one Veto.

Maybe when I have gathered all essentials tool, find myself earning a comfortable living from them and knowing exactly what I need, it might be the right time to buy a Veto.

I have had the veto XL for 4 years. The zip broke a year ago. I have just contacted veto and they have sent a brand new bag.
Had to send a few emails, but not too bad.

They are very robust and have been very well thought out, as they should be for the price.

I think they are a bit over priced and are more of a treat, but it's a damn good treat.

I've had Vetos for 12yrs cannot beat the quality/5yr warranty and being able to organise the tools like they do

XL 6 years daily use in Electrical work mostly industrial
Personally I've had over 25kg of tools in mine with no problem except I was lugging stuff I didn't use all the time it had more capacity than I needed so I filled it up with stuff I rarely used

I chose the XL because the sides fold and secure down when your working and can be closed up when moving around or if its raining or dusty

Last 6 years I've also used an MC and a MB meterbag as I changed job and didn't need hammers hacksaws etc all the time as it was more control wiring on machines so some smaller electrical/mechanical tools required and I wanted something that would fit in a suitcase for overseas jobs

Even though its smaller I carry 13kg of tools which if i had to replace tomorrow would cost around £1200 , therefore to me it makes sense to protect them properly.

I wouldn't aim for too big a bag as you might end up carrying stuff you never use, better to have more or less the most utilised items in the bag to hand and other stuff in the van

If I was to go back to general installation work I'd be looking at the LC or possibly even the smaller backpacks if on large sites.

Plenty of YouTube videos showing their capacity, I would say it depends on how much you really need to carry, how mobile that job is and what the environment is like

holds loads. could have bought a bigger model, but a fully loadedLC is about as much as I can carrycomfortably. there's videos from the US maker on the net. some time tomorrow, I can post mine showing what's in it.

It's full but not rammed, most items are to hand but I do have to take some items out to access others sometimes

Ive got a Stanley Backpack, but last year one of the vans got broken into. I had my power tools taken along with the engineer I was with. I then managed to find my bag dumped and not in the best condition tbh. I then spent a year building up my tools and replacing the power tools. Bearing in mind what I earn.

But the bag is on its last legs. Rather than buy the same one again. I thought out maybe a decent bag. Some people sell used ones which are a good as new on eBay and Facebook Marketplace.

I had one of those too. That was stolen and never recovered. I think for an everyday carry it wouldn’t work.

TP5B for grab bag along with MFT bag, will give enough for a reactive job. Got a Stanley dual access for thr others and a bucket for everything else, must buy a rolling workshop ?

I've had my tech-xl about 5 years, no issues with it other than it's a bit big so can be pretty heavy. I recently picked up a tp4b so I can just load up with job specific tools (if on a jobbing day) so that saves lugging the big fecker about.

I have tried a few tote bags and the winner is Veto TB5 one. It holds all the hand tools I need to work up ladders and do a call out with my MFT. I can use the shoulder strap as a holder for the bag. I use a Klein bigger tote bag for my drills and heavy stuff which I usually leave in the van untill I need it on a job. I also use the fatmax to tote other rarely used tools. I bought a cheapy tote at Denmans (£12) which lasted all of two weeks and tools just made holes in it. Another tote which was Edmundsons had an annoying habit of "leaning" forward when carrying and tools often falling out. At least they sorted that problem with the Veto. I like having all my tools and containers just so. The Veto is very heavy duty and at £40 squids hardly breaks the bank. So far (year) it still looks like new. Everything is accessible in it. The one thing that does annoy me with it is the velcro front pocket, you need a lot of strength to open it! It has a band of about 6" x 3" velcro which has a lot of sticking power.
It very much depends on the kind of work you do really. For what I do a small tote bag is perfect for most operations. And where I used to try to carry all my tools in one large case and developed bigger kintekis I realised I could lighten my load by rationalising exactly what I needed for each operation I do.

I forgot to add, what drew me to the Veto was the pockets/layout. Bordering on OCD, everything being in it's own little pocket helps me sleep at night. No more having to empty half a tote out to find that 2.5mm screwdriver which always works it's way to the bottom. Also means you can tell at a glance if something's missing.


If you do decide to buy one make sure it's off one of Veto's approved sellers. I bought my tech-xl from Amazon at the time and Veto wouldn't allow me to apply for the extended warranty.

A large portion of the attraction to veto bags is based on image rather than functionality. Dont get me wrong, they are well made, well thought out and functional bags but not 3 or 4 times the value of a fatmax bag etc.

Btw, I had 2 fatmax bags over 5 years. I now own a veto. Looking back in was definitely drawn because everyone was telling me how much of a game changer and great they were.

Anyone used the Velocity Rogue bags? I’ve been offered a newish Velocity Rogue 6.0 for 80£ Or Ive seen a brand new CK Magma 2652 Wheeled bag for 80£ Or a Used Veto XX-F for 90£

trouble with the veto is due to it's size, i can see it getting overloaded and too heavy to carry. the velocity look good, but similar price to veto. the rogue 6 for £80 is a good buy.

I think your right there Tel. The Veto although massive. I do think I would not even be able to fill it. Would be heavy when fully loaded, there is no getting away from it. I do think for £80 it is a good price. The Velocity is half price which is a good buy. It’s also as good as new.

Finally got round to loading up my new Veto bag

Bit of a follow up on the packout backpack...

Pros:
Much bigger than expected, so holds quite a bit, including space for combi, impact and a few batteries.
Loads of compartments of various sizes, inside and out.
Sturdy base and well balanced when fully loaded (I suspect this is dependent on not loading heaviest tools up high).
Seems to be very well made, but time will tell how it holds up to general wear and tear.

Cons:
Being huge, it ain't particularly light when loaded with tools ?
