Discuss Why prices for different colour junction box in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thank you all, for taking your time out to help me. Even though that was not my original question, but glad the conversation turned this way, been very informative.

I don't feel yet, wago has been around long enough for me to trust them.
Wagos have been around for decades. I used to come back from Germany with my suitcase full of them before they were on sale here. Also the continental style boxes, which I much prefer to the British Wagobox but are not certified MF because you have to provide your own glands if required.

The answer to your original question may be pigmentation. A lot of plastics are clear/white in the natural state, with other colours requiring pigment. Some of the additional cost could be due to pigments used to make the boxes black.

Anyway I went down it's lighting cables near a spot, so it is assesible. Put them in wago connections and Chuck box, so it can be pulled through the spot hole.
If it was not accessible I would prefer to use junction box. I don't feel yet, wago has been around long enough for me to trust them.

Just a point... in my opinion, it's only accessible if you know it's there, so if you can't see it when the job is finished I would consider it inaccessible. For anything else go for a maintenance free option like a Wagobox or the Hager boxes that have already been mentioned.

I agree with sparkychick, it's the pigmentation sometimes. Years ago black cable-ties were quite noticeably dearer than the "natural" ones, and some still are, albeit a quick glance at a few suppliers show very little difference now, if any. Indeed, screwfix are listing 55 x 9mm packs of 100 at £1 more for the natural ones...
but I expect demand drives the prices more, nowadays.
