Discuss Will 4 pin phase converter work with a 4 pin 3 phase compressor in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net
Hi, leading on from my question the other day about running the 3 phase compressor off my 8.5kW generator I have since got my hands on a 240v to 3 phase converter. My question being the 3 phase output from the converter has only 4 wires/ seperatly cores coming out where as my compressor currently has a 5 pin 32amp 3 phase plug on it (were going to change it to 16amp as the guy I bought it off fitted a 32amp plug for convenience because all his sockets were 32amp) it is a 5.5hp electric motor so 16amp should do fine I think. But my worry is with the compressor having a 5 pin plug and the converter only having 3 wires will it work? We've an electrician coming up to do the wiring for us tomorrow but I wanna know if it's going to work before I go and pick him up.
Thanks in advance.
Will
