Hi,

I am a bit confused about the zones in the bathroom. I have a bath with a shower, and above the length of the bath there is a window that is recessed (like 20cm). The window has an extractor fan fitted. Is the window area considered zone 1 or zone 2? The diagrams in the official documents imply this is zone 2 but wasn't too sure. I am thinking of changing the extractor so want to make sure I get an appropriate one for the zone.

Thanks.

Many of the diagrams online for bathrooms are wrong - if you read the regulation it's clear that the window recess is zone 2 - though if it may get sprayed directly by the shower then it should really be IPX5

Nothing wrong with exceeding the minimum requirements, of course
