hi, im sorry if this post is in the wrong place or there is already something out there, but i couldnt find anything.

this is a bit of a dumb question but im only 15 and know hardly anything about electrics.

i have come across a problem where on my boat i need to plug in a few things that have a standard uk bs1363 plug, but on the mooring they only have those marine industrial plugs whatever they are. the blue ones. is it safe to take a standard house extension lead and change the plug to the one that fits the socket on the mooring?

sorry for the dumb question

thanks!

No! The blue ones are specially for that watery environment BS1363s are not. If necessary, change the plug tops on the leads from the appliances to the ones which correspond to the sockets on the mooring. If in ANY doubt, get someone who knows.

murdoch has nailed it, as usual. buy the lead he shows you. they come in various lengths. make sure that the outlet end is within the confines of the boat as that end is not rated for water ingress.
