Hi all,
I understand that socket outlets that are to be used for powering appliances in a kitchen must have an means of isolation accessable at all times.
I was wondering what people think of using a wireless reciever socket outlet like this one from homeeasy:

Hi all,
Ive just bought a box of 50 double skt outlets to BS1363, manafactured by GET England, but they have only one terminal for the CPC.
The on-site guide (page 67) states "socket outlets must have two terminals for protective conductors. One terminal to be used for each protective...

As the title, our new treadmill just turned up and apart from the obvious problem of not being able to get it upstairs I noticed this (image attached) in the instructions.
What's that all about? I haven't actually tried plugging it in yet but obviously all the sockets in our house are on...
Going into a job with another electrician. Putting in some 3ph circuits with socket outlets suppling some sort of cooking equipment in a kebab shop, Am I right in saying that these outlets should have a localised means of isolation? Or would isolation at db suffice? Ref to the BRB would be nice...
For the second time in two weeks, I've come across 120v at an outlet. First time in a lighting circuit wired in singles where someone had wired the line back to the start to form a line ring but nuetral spur - I gues that then made all the lamps series rather than parallel??
This...

Hi
I can’t find this anywhere: what is the minimum distance between sockets wired to different phases in a large domestic installation?
I’m sure in the same room is OK (encouraged even, for load balancing - but never in the same enclosure) but I remember reading somewhere years ago about a...
Hi all,
I know this is true:
Power - 100% of the first ring circuit + 40% of all other circuits
But in real terms, lets say I have three ring final circuits, one with 5 double outlets and two others both with 3 double outlets:
Is the max demand therefore 10 x 13A + ((12 x 13A) * 0.4) = 192.4A...

That said, the back story is that I just bought a new dryer. Because I'm an idiot, I didn't check the power cord before purchasing, and now that it's in my home I notice that it has a nema 14-30 plug. I...
If you are planning on installing a standard 16A 110Volt socket outlet to a normal 230V single phase installation is there anything different you have to do than if you were installing a 230V socket? i thought the socket itself incorporated the transformer to take the voltage down to 110 or is...

hi, have to wire up one of those whirlpool baths for a client. It comes with a 13amp plug and with reading the new rags I am taking it as that i can put an outlet or fcu under the bath, since its only accessible with a tool. Is this correct???

What is the correct height for both sockets and switches in Scotland?
I have always been fitting them at 300mm and 1370mm however a building control Officr has intimated they should be at 450mm for socets and between 800mm and 1200mm for switches.
Is this the case?
Hello-
We just bought a home. Our home inspector told us we needed to purchase an electric 220v dryer and 110 v washer.
I only see 240v dryers online - are they compatible?
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question.
