I think I spot VIR cable going into the board which could mean rewiring, but absolutely impossible to tell what condition cabling is in without a full EICR being carried out. As for the consumer unit itself, it wouldn't do any harm to upgrade it

I am edging towards a rewire prior to moving in as my contents are in storage. It'll be a nightmare having to get it done further down the line.

Any electricians from Liverpool on here?

The contactum consumer unit is missing a blank which means live exposed copper will be touchable. That is extremely dangerous and needs fixing immediately.

As mentioned the actual wiring could be of several ages as there is evidence of additions/alterations. certainly cleaning up all the additional rcds and mcbs into a single enclosure will smarten the place up. Very wise to consider a rewire whilst not in the property, will be much cheaper and you will get more electricians likely to quote.
cheers

Ok, a rewire it is. Never done this before so can you please offer advice?

I have added the floor plan.

Ground floor.

Looking to get double sockets in each corner of the living room, dining room and extension room.
Extension room has no pendant light due to flat roof, has three wall lights.
Double socket in hallway.
Kitchen, not sure. Has florescent light and electric oven.
There is a shower room adjoining the kitchen - electric shower, combi boiler is situated there.

Detached garage.

Upstairs

Two double bedrooms double sockets in each corner.
Single room two double sockets.
Bathroom has an electric shower.
Separate toilet.
Double socket on landing.

Loft light.

Porch
Double socket. Internal/external light.

Outside
Electric point for rear garden

Replace all pendant lights in rooms/hallway/landing.

Use brushed chrome sockets and light switches

Is it your plan to do this yourself?

If you look at his last sentence in post #3, on the face of it, it looks like he's after someone to do the work..
Maybe the OP can just confirm this though....

can you please offer advice?
Don't forget wiring associated with boiler/heating/hot water.
Get new TV feeds where you want them and avoid the dreaded Sky man with his indiscriminate drilling.
Put phone points where you want. Consider running Ethernet cable from router to TVs, office, etc.

Definitely think about this.... Saves messing around later on then the kids want a console in their bedroom or other things...

OP, whereabouts in God's fair city are you. I cover the south of Liverpool and the outlying areas. be happy to give you a quote.
