Hi guys, I'm after some advice on purchasing tools and equipment to re-equip an electrical training workshop. Here's a little bit of background information- I'm currently volunteering in a town called Mtwara in Tanzania as an Electrical Maintenance Vocational Advisor with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO), on a two year project to improve the vocational training of local youths in order for them to access employment in the industries supporting the Oil & Gas Industry developing here. The project is kindly being funded by BG, so I actually have some funding for the purchase of tools and equipment, but my main role is to work with the Electrical Instructors here to bring the standards of what is actually being taught upto western standards. I've now hit the point where I am able to order tools and equipment for the workshop- We do currently have some, however it's extremely poorly equipped with not enough tools to go round, trainees having to work in groups of 5 or more, and the tools we do have are of very poor quality. So now I'm looking for assistance in writing a purchasing list of equipment that is needed in order to have a functioning electrical training workshop. The reason for asking for assistance in this matter, is that I do not have a background in education, my background is as a maintenance engineer and my basic training was completed back in 1996, so if anybody here currently works in vocational training back in the UK I'd be extremely grateful for assistance! I'm basically looking for a recommended tools and equipment list to have the workshop brought into this century for teaching basic electrical installation and maintenance, both domestic industrial, if anyone can help me out, I'd be very grateful, if you need further details i'm obviously very happy to provide them! There are approximately 20 students in each class, and it is a full time course for school leavers, with training lasting between 2 and 5 years depending on what level they train to. Currently however there only around 40 students across the two years of the level one course. Thanks for any assistance in advance, Iphito.
