the biggest problem a lot of people have is they get factory fitted deadlocks and think there safe.Same thing happened to my transit in january and £4000 of tools taken
I had slam locks fitted, then changed the drivers door lock and fitted deadbolts to the side and rear doors of mine

they can on all vans, transits are easier though. Are people able to pick the locks on a VW caddy like the person who started the thread?

i hope you got the s type? there a lot harder to pick than the t type that uses a standard key blankBought deadlocks from here Locks 4 Vans supply Van Locks, Van Security Locks, Van Door Lock and Van Deadlocks in the UK and youtube then gives detailed info on how to install, 2 hours spent fitting them on a saturday afternoon . So for less than the cost of a decent drill the van is now a lot more secure.

Well I have become the latest victim of this today! Multimeter, battery tester, Bosch drill and a Henry hoover stolen!
No idea how they broke in! No signs of forced entry but I am 100% I locked the van as always check handles after as a habit.
Really not looking forward to ringing the boss in the morning.

the difference is on the caddys its a lot harder to bypass the Immobilizer than on a ford, a lock smith was telling me its just a case of shorting a couple wires together in a transitI feel for you. Were they your tools or the company’s?
If it is a ford, then post #9 has links to the video of the £45 internet bought tool that picks the ford locks in about 15 seconds.
Similar pick available for VW Caddy (which a friend has as his business van).

you can pick the locks on any of the new vans but you cant bypas the immobilizer on a lot of themI have had a look, and there is also a youtube video showing someone picking the locks for a 2011 VW Caddy with an internet pick. “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMC8vFD6lN4”.

Yeah I've just seen that too. Obviously I'm going to have to face the accusatory looks when I tell my boss in the morning but I know in my mind that I always lock it. Just can't prove itI have had a look, and there is also a youtube video showing someone picking the locks for a 2011 VW Caddy with an internet pick. “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMC8vFD6lN4”.
there is an imobilizer chip in every key so the engine wouldn't run to take itWith the transit, the pick tool keeps the key settings, so they just get in and using the same pick settings they have an ignition key (I Believe).
if i was in digs in london id take my tools in with me.....no tools in the van in London. for me thats it, no matter of immobiliser or alarm there will be a crack head willing to have a go.
