Discuss Autocad MEP.... Design help in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi all,

I am currently using autocadMEP to learn how to design floor plans and basic electrical layouts etc. Now in autocad MEP there is a set of tools available for circuit design, layout, calculations, distrubtuion board layouts and circuit charts (and a whole list of dynamic electrical tools i have no clue about!)

I was hoping somebody might know a good resource to learn more about these functions in Autocad MEP, because tutorials are very slim on the ground, and most is in US format.

I basically want the ability to design an electrical install, starting from the main cut-out, through DB's and into final circuits, whilst giving a suitable materials list, and circuit schmatic, and labelled. This would clearly help the lads on-site to correctly wire the circuits and minimise mistakes.

Anyone with ANY experience welcomed....

~Cheers all....

I've no experience with MEP whatsoever, but I can give you general ACad help if you need some (though guess probably not).

After months of looking i still have not found any support on the web for my top post, i also am i student learning acad, and my tutors are none the wiser. It seems like a failed area of support from autodesk. This must be a massivley Useful part of MEP to learn, but with no support im not sure jow Autodesk think people can learn about the stack of features available. Big shame in my eyes..... Onwards and upwards as they say.

Are you using AutoCAD MEP or AutoCAD Revit MEP. I have a 2011 book on the revit software but not the standard ACAD version.

Okay I've run a focused web search and found a copy of
Autodesk 2010, 716 pages, PDF, 50,4 MB THE AUBIN ACADEMY MASTER SERIES: AUTOCAD MEP 2011

Look it up here and if it's what you want you can buy it. If you haven't got $50.24 you can send me a PM and I'll give you a link.

Thanks for your time looking. I use acad MEP 2012, not revit.
I have seen that book above, trouble is i use 2012, which has newer feautures on it. Also im
Not sure if those books are specific enough for what i am
After. Cheers

im currently attending an evening class to learn how to use autocad. It is run through my local council, and has only cost me ÂŁ144.
I dont know how you find out whats available, beacvuse i know the cenre managers daughter.

Im sure if you ring your councils adult education department, they will be able to point you in the right direction.
