I like the look of the Toyota Land cruiser but for 20k you don't get much

Hyundai Santa-Fe? Could prob pick up a premium SE on a 16-17 plate, under 15K miles with still 3-4 years warranty left on it.
Yep agree, but I have looked at one and the boot space is small, I have 2 dogs who need space in the back, the SF is too small in the back and I am not sure of the towing ability Lee.

Yes they recommend the Kia sorento, but I don't like them, I find asking people about their experiences is better than a magazines view, especially as it is written by one person with a view, not a dozen people who have actually owned a 4x4.

I will look into them

Lexus 400H - 3.3 petrol / hybrid. 30 to gallon, goes like ---- of a shovel, loads of torque, good in snow. Have had one from new (2008) 160k on clock and so far the only issues I’ve had is normal wear an tear on brakes. Over engineered for US market I’m told.

Have a look at a Kia Sportage, looks quite sporty, handles really well and you get the rest of the 7 year warranty if its used. can get a 16 plate from a kia dealership for between 16 and 20k I almost got one, but it wouldnt fit in my parking space in the car park!!. so ended up with a kia rio instead.

Neighbour has a non Hybrid Lexus they do look like great cars and will outlast a RR.

Can get a half-decent RR for £20k mate.
No,no,no...get an older one,and know you are taking a punt,or a new one,and get ready to use that warranty, but at 20G,you're at the casino:eek:
Got dozens of friends and associates, who had TDV6's,and felt like Bernie Madoff was the dealer...

For 20k I would look at the Range Rover evoque. If you could stretch a bit further then I’d look a the Jag F-Pace.

I'd been considering buy a Discovery Sport (when I used to be rich :().

However it would seem they (and the Evoque) have a nasty little design issue, oil dilution with their diesel engines. So I wouldn't touch a used one with a barge pole.

The F-Pace, which has a similar engine, doesn't have the issue as the engine is not mounted transversally.
