If anyone is after details of the Amendment 1 there's a summary post with links to the IET overview seminar and also a more detailed review of Surge Protection Devices & Chapter 534 on my blog.
To be honest I'm more interested in the EICRs and how it will affect inspection and testing procedures and paperwork.
Anyway I'm going to an Elecsa update next week so hopefully will be back with some more info.
Never a dull moment!
Here's the summary link- Amendment 1 of BS7671 17th Edition Wiring Regulations

The only issue with the video link is that (IMHO) it was created as a prelude to the "proposed" changes and since then the MWC/RCD amendments have been withdrawn.

Likewise I'm going to an Elecsa event next week!

I'm looking forward to getting the lowdown on what's going to be in or out and about the EICRs. If you're at the Elecsa Milton Keynes evening seminar on 23 June I'll be the one wearing the boiler suit and I'll wear a red carnation in my breast pocket so you'll recognise me.

Thanks for info about the Minor Works stuff Murdoch. I've amended my blog post.
Regarding the new EICRs is seems as though we will carry on using the current PIR forms at least until January when the new ones should be finalised and published. Apparently the idea behind the new forms is to give a more comprehensive report and also more clarity for the client (easier to understand), but I must say that I'm not looking forward to having to fill in an extra 4 or so pages of the Schedule of Items Inspected. I suppose that's progress!

Don't forget to stand under the big clock.

I did. But nobody came. I went home to my room, alone with my bundle of amendments.

Don't worry. I'm sure it's safe. No one with any sense will go near it. And if they do, then they deserve everything they get!
