Just a question I’ve always been taught no but some of the older guys say yes and newer guys say no and just wondering if anyone has a clear answer for me ?

What Regulation does it contravene?I’m thinking, by the the description, there’s a light switch next the the CU, and another cable up to the light.

Thanks I had some idea it’s bad practice but just been told different things ?My definition of a switch wire, is perm live an switched live, why would you take such a wire back to the CU unless using it as some sort of junction box / enclosure.
it was a switchwire on a lighting circuit from a photocell taken back to the board and the connections made off in the dis board and didn’t know if it was against regs or just bad practice ?Could you maybe draw a sketch of what you mean?
